Today I got a most curious e-mail from the maintainer of the Malibu, California branch of the Invisible Library. I am transcribing its contents below:
Dear Mr. Hadis, As a devout reader of Borges, I was very pleased to find your marvellous site. Thank you for your hard work on this collection of links and pages. You are, of course, already aware of that endeavor to catalog books which exist only in other books, since you have a link to the original Invisible Library, founded by Mr. Brian Quinette (of Providence, Rhode Island, no less!); that branch, alas, is now defunct. There are, however, several other branches extant. An archived copy of Mr Quinette's original catalog does exist, here. Mr. James Hay has also preserved Mr. Quinette´s work, and added to it himself: a continuation of Mr. Quinettes´ work, by James Hay There is also The Invisible Library, Live Journal Branch, created by le_trombone Mr. Park and Mr. Stahl have also created a blog containing these materials: Finally, my wife Fayaway and I have created our own branch of the Invisible Library at Malibu Lake, CA. I hope that you find these links useful. Thank you for helping to disseminate and preserve this highly entertaining and increasingly useful information—doubt not, o archivist, but persist! Curiously,, Hermester Barrington, Chief Archivist, Law Offices of Petty, Smilodon, & Ruth (ret.) |
